The position of Coder Certified - Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis requires a dedicated professional to review medical records and ensure accurate billing codes are applied. Scheduled hours total 40 per week (full-time). The role involves assessment, coding, communication with medical staff, and administrative tasks. Primary responsibilities include reviewing and coding medical record documentation: identifying relevant facts in patient records; coding evaluation and management services to CPT codes and diagnoses to ICD-9 codes; collaborating with physicians; leading a team of coders; preparing case reports and initiating follow-ups for billing. Working Conditions: normal office setting in the United States. Required Qualifications: Certifications/Professional Licenses: CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or other related credentials from AHIMA or AAPC. Experience: No specific work experience required; previous coding experience preferred. Skills: medical billing and coding, medical terminology, proficiency in computer systems.
